Tesheva will be performing this Friday at Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern. The show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. It will be a themed show, so each guest is encouraged to wear pajamas or comfortable clothing to come out and have a good time.
The guys have not performed in over a month, so they said they are really excited for their first show of the year.
Tesheva, which formed back in the fall of 2013, consists of four members. Matt Dunaway as the bassist, Vaughan Brenner as the drummer, and both Micheal McCoy and Caleb Hutson play the guitar.
The band is based out of Lindbergh Blvd. here in Starkville, MS.
When asked how they became a band, each of the members said it kind of just happened one day, and it has been working out for them ever since.
“We all knew each other, and we just organized a little jam one day,” Brenner said.
“For me, it’s like an outlet of putting effort into something that I actually enjoy doing,” Hutson said. “We all have our own things going in life so sometimes we don’t actually get to do things that we love or enjoy as much.”
Huston said as musicians, it’s hard to find a group of guys that value music and that are not afraid to perform in front of people.
It is evident these guys are more than just members of the same band, they are a true family. From the way they interact with each other, it is clear to see they truly enjoy doing what they love.
“I’ll take being on the road and playing music over just hanging out on the weekends any day,” Brenner said.
The band has been exposed to various cities, and they said they enjoy every moment of it. Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Auburn, Alabama, and Jackson are just a few of the cities which they have performed in.
To aspiring musicians, the band relayed the importance of challenging yourself.
“Listen to music that you cannot play yourself, because it will motivate you and want you to be better,” Hutson said.
“Listen to and play music that challenges you,” McCoy said. “Power through the frustrating plateaus and stagnation and keep writing and playing to reach that next level. Play with other musicians. Share your talent with folks. First and foremost, make sure you’re having fun.”
When asked about community ties, the guys said they have felt a loyalty since the beginning.
“We have overwhelming support from our fans. Loyal supporters from the beginning who enjoy our unique sound invite their friends to experience our music then those folks invite their folks,” McCoy said. “It’s a steady process making fans along the way. We get feedback from these folks and we take critiques into consideration. We also have support from local musicians, artists, and designers as well as local businesses.”
As far are their website, their artwork, and their t-shirts, the band tries to keep everything local. They work with local vendors and people in the Starkville area in order to get everything done. It is very important to them to be supportive of those who are just as supportive of them.
They have also worked with other artists for their posters and CDs.
