A variety of events will be held throughout the Golden Triangle this weekend. Both the Communication Department’s annual golf tournament and this year’s Pumpkinpalooza will be taking place on Friday. Mississippi State University professors will be lecturing both on and off campus.
Communication Department Golf Tournament
What: The MSU Communication Department’s 11th annual golf tournament will take place on Friday. Registration for the event will take place between 10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., with the event starting at noon. The cost to participate is $125 per person, with all proceeds going toward the Lora J. DeFore Scholarships.
When: Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the MSU Golf Course.
Tea and Texts
What: Donald Shaffer, a Mississippi State University associate professor of English and African American studies, present a lecture on Richard Wright’s novel “Native Son.”
When: Friday at 12:30 p.m. in Griffis Hall room 201.
Pumpkinpalooza
What: Pumpkinpalooza will kick off at 6 p.m. with a Mississippi State University pep rally. Children can enjoy face painting, inflatable jumpers and Main Street trick or treating, while adults can visit the Starkville Community Market and do some late-night shopping. Pumpkinpalooza will also include a pumpkin patch with pumpkin painting.
When: Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Main Street in Starkville.
Sundays at the Bluff
What: In celebration of Mississippi Archeology Month, MSU bioarcheologist Anna Osterholdz will present a lecture called “Bodies and Lives: How Bioarcheologists Reconstruct Health and Behavior.” The lecture will be part of a series taking place at Plymonth Bluff Environmental Center entitled “Sundays at the Bluff.”
When: Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Plymouth Bluff Environmental Center.
