Students can expect to see a new look on Mississippi State University’s police officers upon returning to campus after spring break.
According to MSU PD Chief Vance Rice, the uniform change will be effective on March 20. Because officers will begin wearing the new uniforms while students are on break, it will give them about a week to get used to the change.
Previously, the uniforms were black and gray, pullover golf shirts, but the new uniforms will be all black and more formal. They will feature metal badges, different from the sewn-on badges seen on the old uniforms. Additionally, the uniforms have an external vest carrier, which are much cooler for the officers wearing them.
