Ingram Hill comes back to Rick’s

Nearly a decade old, the alternative pop/rock band Ingram Hill, known for its catchy songs and energetic shows will make its return to Rick’s Café on Wednesday.
The band who has opened for artists like Maroon 5 and Lisa Marie Presley in recent years will stop by Starkville as part of their most recent tour. Ingram Hill played in Jackson, Tenn., Aug. 23 and will continue towards Tuscaloosa, Ala., following their show at Rick’s.
The band consists of lead singer Justin Moore, Matt Chambless on drums and Phil Bogard on lead guitar.
After releasing its 2007 album, Cold in California, the band known for their popular songs “Almost Perfect” and “Will I Ever Make It Home” have added plenty of new songs to their repertoire.
Rick’s Café employee Christine Owen said the band draws a good crowd.
“Ingram Hill is such a great band because they are able to play their original songs and still bring in a really good crowd,” Owen said.
The three Memphis natives have been headlining in college towns for several years, Owen said.
“I have been working at Rick’s since 2003, and they had been playing here even before that,” Owen said. “We keep asking them to come back because they always bring in large audiences, especially girls.”
Senior sports communication major John Thompson said college students can relate to the band’s songs and lyrics.
“Since I was on the Student Association I got to help Ingram Hill set up before their show at the Spring Fling last year. I also got to hang out with them; they are really nice guys,” Thompson said.
Ingram Hill is no stranger to the Starkville area and is usually given a warm welcome from Starkville locals and the college students.
The band is known for playing in college towns and having a large college student following, WMSV news and public affairs director Anthony Craven said.
“I think it’s easy for students, especially in the Southeast, to relate to Ingram Hill because they are from the South and they mention things in the songs that students are familiar with,” Craven said.
