These are brief statements submitted by candidates for Student Association executive office at the request of The Reflector. These statements appear as they were submitted by the candidates. The
Reflector staff has not edited for content or grammar. My sole job as Student Association president is to serve as a voice for you, the students of Mississippi State. This year I want to ensure that the SA carries out its main goal, which is to advocate your interests. I have several ideas about student involvement, governmental relations and ensuring the future of the Night Route, but the main objective that the SA needs to focus on for this upcoming year is exactly what is on your minds.
The Student Association must proactively seek out student interests and concerns on the numerous issues affecting the student experience at MSU. Student Life Commissions will enable the SA to focus on specific areas of student life, in order to better understand and fulfill student interests. Student involvement is essential to the success of our university, not only will students involved with a campus organization benefit themselves and the organization, but they will overall benefit Mississippi State University.
Today, when you choose the next student body president, I hope you choose one who will be accountable when he is being paid $500 a month, one who will have experience with leadership on campus, and one who will fight for your interests as a student at Mississippi State University. This is the type of president you deserve and this is the type of president I am going to be.
