Turn over a new leaf this fall by updating your wardrobe with new colors, silhouettes, textures and accessories. Edit your closet by determining what to hold and what to fold this season.
When selecting a fall coat, hold onto the timeless camel coat. This color is so chic, not only in outerwear but in suits, pants and vests. Also keep the boyfriend blazer. This is another classic piece that can be dressed up or dressed down for any occasion. Leather studded motorcycle jackets are an item to fold this season. Avoid anything studded or over embellished with hardware. When it comes to texture, patterns and fabrics, this fall it’s all about luxury and a rich color palette. Velvet is a fabric that is coming back in a major way in dresses, skirts and tops. Find this fabric in dark violet, emerald or navy. Sheers and lace are two textiles to hold onto this season. Anything that is sheer or has lace detail is trendy but still classic.
Big bold prints with skulls, tattoo designs, stars, etc. need to be folded this fall. Go for a more refined floral or polka dot pattern. Leopard is still as chic as always, but move away from zebra patterns. The silhouettes this season are very ’50s and ’60s inspired. Pull out that shift dress and match it with a skinny belt and a red lip. Hold onto any dress that has a very clean feminine line.
High-waisted shorts accentuate the smallest part of the waist. Look for these in silk or leather and pair them with opaque tights.
Fold any bandage or bodycon dresses and hold off on the Lady Gaga shoulders. Classic beauty is the trend. Fashion is resorting back to its minimalistic dressing of the New Look Era.
As far as footwear is concerned, boots are the staple of the season. Hold onto your lace-up boots and unadorned ankle boots. Thigh-high socks look very chic with short boots, and they elongate the leg. Try this look with shorts or a skirt. Any boot that is studded should be folded this fall. Think, simple and streamlined.
