A taste of Chicago has recently arrived to the Starkville community.
Zazzle’s is a restaurant modeled after the influences of authentic Chicago-style food. Zazzle’s celebrated its grand opening last week, and is owned and operated by Charles and Elizabeth Young.
Elizabeth Young said opening a Chicago-style restaurant was a dream of hers.
“I have a niece who just came from Chicago. Chicago is known for its food; when people come to Chicago, they know they are getting food unlike anything else,” Young said.
Young said Zazzle’s is as authentic as it gets.
“Our restaurant reflects the themes of Chicago food. We have Polish dishes, gyros and, of course, famous Chicago hot dogs. Our food is made with Zienna beef, a company that is straight out of Chicago,” Young said.
Young also said the diverse menu will cater to different people.
“We have several dishes that are heavily influenced by Chicago, but we also have Philly cheesesteaks, chicken, salads, wraps and appetizers. We also have our Zazzle burger, which is made with a pound of meat, as well as a turkey burger for our more health conscious customers,” Young said.
Aside from having a dish for every appetite, Young said Zazzle’s quality of food is matched only by its atmosphere.
“Zazzle’s has a happy environment. Customers, especially students, can eat and dine and mingle. We have a double patio out back, free Wi-Fi and it is very close to campus. It’s a fun atmosphere with a lot of good food” Young said.
Mary Margaret Alexander, sophomore English and art major, said Zazzle’s is her kind of restaurant.
“This place sounds delicious. I will definitely be going there.”
D.J. Fallon, senior history major, said he is looking forward to Chicago-style food in Starkville.
“One thing I noticed about Chicago is that everywhere you go, the pace is always frantic. It takes them two minutes to make a dish that should normally take 20. If I worked at a place like that, the food would taste like crap. But it really tastes better than anything,” Fallon said.
Zazzle’s is located off of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, close to the Family Dollar Store.
