Senior chemical engineering major Jeremy Johnson was named the new Student Association president Tuesday night.The announcement was made outside the State Fountain Bakery located on the Mississippi State campus at 9 p.m.
Johnson won the race by 348 votes, taking in a total of 1,020, approximately 60 percent of students’ votes.
Opponent Aaron Rice received 672 votes.
The new SA executive council also includes Vice President Caroline Adams, Secretary Nicole Wyatt and Attorney General Braxton Coombs. Johnson will be responsible for appointing a new treasurer.
Upon confirmation of his victory, Johnson’s first action was to call his mother to tell her the news.
