Despite inclement weather the MSU track Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs were still ready to make noise at the Texas Relays, which was hosted by the University of Texas. Senior distance runner Jennifer McPherson earned a NCAAs regional’s qualifying mark in the 1500-meter run, posting a season best 4 minutes, 27.15 seconds.
McPherson has qualified for the post-season event for the second straight season.
“It was great to see Jen {McPherson] qualify in this type of weather. It was raining, snowing and windy today,” head coach Al Schmidt said.
The Men’s 4×400 meter team comprised of Arthur Davis, Bruce Davis, Nathan Daniels and Ezra Jones clocked in 3:10:44 falling just shy of the LSU Tigers.
The Bulldogs earned second place in the relays, finishing one spot above SEC Eastern division rival Georgia Bulldogs.
The men’s distance medley relay team of Golden Coachman, Ezra Jones, Chris Woods and Travis McKay placed 6th with a time of 10:16.44.
The 4×880 relay team, set a new school record in the event with a time of 7:20.29.
Michelle Corrigan also placed 3rd in the 5000-meter run.
The Bulldogs finished in the top six of the eight relays events.

“It seemed like we finished second in about everything that we ran in,” said Schmidt. “It was a pretty good meet for us, competing against some SEC and Big XI schools. I was pleased with the way our kids attacked it today.”
MSU track and field will return to action on Saturday, April 21, competing in the Auburn Invitational in Auburn, Ala.
