An empty house caught fire early Tuesday morning on 1507 Blackjack Road.
There were no victims, as no one lived at the two-story residence.
Mississippi State University owns the house, and it was not part of a student living complex, according to the Oktibbeha County Fire Department. 
A blurry cellphone video captured high flames rising behind residential buildings, while smoke climbed in the sky, passing over the video taker’s vantage point.
The East Oktibbeha Volunteer Fire Department responded to a 911 call around 12:30 a.m., according to Oktibbeha FD fire services coordinator Patrick Warner. 
“Upon arrival, the structure was fully involved,” he said. “It was a total loss. We extinguished the fire, but there was nothing left.”
This is not the first time something on the infamous Oktibbeha County road has caught alight, as The Reflector reported on construction equipment engulfed in flames in April 2021. 
The Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s office was not available for comment upon publication time. This story may be updated in the future.
