Junior Chelsey Babiarz said she can’t wait to bundle up in her favorite jacket.
With winter fast approaching, it is time to put away the tank tops and flip-flops and choose more cool weather attire.
Senior fashion major Amanda McRae says trends for winter include the following: suede, anything with fur, tweed, the colors pink and black, wool-lined hats and anything mauve.
Many Mississippi State students prefer not to dress up to go to class and, when it gets cooler, prefer to be comfortable and warm.
Claire Keen, a junior, says her favorite thing about winter clothes is bundling up.
“I love wearing my Miller’s OK Tire Store navy blue hooded sweatshirt,” Keen said. “It’s all faded and really comfortable. I also love wearing guys’ sweatshirts.”
MSU junior Jason Scott also said he prefers casual cold-weather clothes.
“My favorite is my dark blue fleece pullover from Old Navy,” he said. “That and blue jeans. That is my all-around winter outfit.”
However, some students view the winter as an opportunity to dress more stylishly.
Senior Jeremy Conkin has a few favorite pieces.
“Well, I have two things that I’m excited about wearing this winter. The first is my maroon merino wool sweater. It’s warm and versatile. I wear it with everything,” Conkin said. “My second favorite is my green corduroy jacket, just because I like the way it looks.”
Joe Brock Faulkner said he also likes to dress up when the weather gets cooler.
“I like wearing button-down shirts and khaki pants,” he said. “I just like to look nice.”
A big part of winter fashion is the accessories, such as hats, scarves and jackets.
“I like all the cute winter accessories,” Babiarz said. “I’m from Maine, so I have a lot of those. I love bundling up in my big orange Columbia ski jacket. It’s bright and happy and warm. It reminds me of home.”
Casey Cossitt, a senior, says she can’t wait to wear her long brown suede coat.
“It’s lined with fur and it makes me feel so sexy,” she says.
Whether students prefer their clothes to be soft and comfortable or pressed and sharp, they’ll soon have the opportunity to don their winter clothes.
