Police reported an altercation at the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house Sunday morning that sent two Mississippi State University students to Oktibbeha County Hospital.
Dean of Students Mike White said “five or six participants, maybe more” were involved in the altercation.
At least two students suffered injuries serious enough to warrant medical treatment, White said.
Hospital attendants gave a male student not associated with the fraternity seven stitches above the left eye. A female student was treated for a concussion.
Campus police have not released the names of those involved in the incident because the investigation is ongoing.
One of the people treated for injuries said the incident stemmed from a verbal argument within the house. The person said the argument eventually moved outside and led to blows.
The incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
Police arrived at the Pi Kappa Alpha house after the altercation took place and made no arrests.
“It appears to be a very serious incident,” White said.
He added that the university has interviewed some of the students involved but will not take disciplinary action until the police have completed their investigation.
Ryan Saffle, president of the fraternity, said the fraternity is not speaking about the incident.
“We have no comment at this time,” Saffle said.
One of those involved in the incident is a Reflector staff member.
