Mississippi State Lady Bulldogs shot a 302 in the final day of the Tulane Invitational. The 302 third round score placed as the third best on the day and placed the Lady Bulldogs in fifth overall.
Freshman Sofie Andersson fired a 76 in the final round and finished in a tie for sixth place with Katie Ruhe of South Florida. Senior Anna Knutsson shot a team best 71 for the round and finished in a three-way tie for 15th place.
“As a team we had a much better performance today,” said head coach Christi Sanders. “The players were more focused and concentrated.”
To round out the starting five, Beth Irwin finished 27th with a tournament score of 240. Natalie Booth shot a 77 in the final round to finish in a tie for 39th place and Catalina Olarte placed 43rd after three days of competition.
In the first day of the tournament, sophomore Natalie Booth made her first ever collegiate hole-in-one on the 17th hole in the first round of the Invitational.
The Lady Bulldogs fifth place finish placed them one stroke ahead of SEC West foe Alabama (946) and behind in-state rival Mississippi. Host Tulane finished in first with a 905 team score (311-306- 288) and was led by Lindsay Hulwick’s 222 that earned her medalist honors for the individuals. Texas Christian finished second with 922 and South Florida finished just two strokes back for third place.
The Lady Bulldogs are off for a month before the next tournament appearance in the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., March 9-11.
