Each year the Mississippi State University Women’s Club awards $500 scholarships to outstanding female master’s and doctoral students.
“We are looking to honor outstanding graduates,” Susan Brown, chairwoman of the scholarship committee, said. “We look for leadership and scholarship in these girls. We are anxious for eligible women to apply because this scholarship is meant for them.”
These awards are presented to female graduate students with competitive grades who demonstrate excellence in leadership and services.
According to Brown, chair of the scholarship committee, the Women’s Club began awarding scholarships in 1994.
The individual members contribute to the scholarship fund and gladly meet the recipients and learn about their accomplishments, Brown continued.
Mississippi States University Women’s Club memberships are open to any woman associated with the university, including faculty, staff or spouses of MSU associates.
Applicants for the women’s scholarship must be an enrolled full-time student in any graduate school discipline and must be a U.S. citizen.
Brown encourages students to elaborate on their academic achievement when completing the application form.
An application must be completed with several letters of recommendation by April 10 in order to apply for the 2003 Mississippi State University Women’s Club Scholarship.
Students may be nominated by MSU faculty or advisers.
The Women’s Club Scholarship Committee meets to review all applications submitted to evaluate the achievements of the applicants in order to make the final selection for the scholarship.
Application forms are available in the Student Financial Aid and Scholarships office in 117 Garner Hall.
