On Saturday, the Magnolia Room at West Point’s Old Waverly Golf Club played host to its first-ever Ann Taylor LOFT fashion show. Nearly 30 Mississippi women modeled the new holiday line of Ann Taylor LOFT. Also in attendance were New York City-based Ann Taylor representatives such as Adrienne Lazarus, Senior Vice President/General Merchandising Manager and Shari Hershon, Senior Vice President/Design. Hershon designed all of the outfits on display and said that they will be available soon in all Ann Taylor LOFT stores, including the one in Tupelo.
“We’re very excited about the new line,” Hershon said. “This collection was designed with a number of factors in mind including a client’s various needs during the holiday season.”
Hershon also said that she and her staff have already begun work on next year’s holiday line and that while her designs are both versatile and practical, “we always want to be feminine, too.”
This year’s line is characterized by cowlneck and portrait sweaters, velvet and lace tops, sleek trousers and denim as well as an assortment of coats, hats and accessories.
“Ann Taylor LOFT is focused on style, quality and versatility for every moment in the modern woman’s life,” Lazarus said. “We offer chic yet classic fashions with a kind of relaxed sensibility and versatility that can go just about anywhere. Our selections are designed to a wide range of clients from 20-60 (years old).”
While Ann Taylor designs have been around for nearly 50 years, the sister chain, Ann Taylor LOFT has only been around since 1998. However, it is already the second-fastest growing women’s specialty retailer in the United States. Lazarus said Ann Taylor LOFT is on it’s way to becoming 650 stores strong, with about 50 stores scheduled to open next year.
