Angela Powell, assistant coach for the Mississippi State track teams, has been named to the ACC’s 50th anniversary outdoor track team. Powell, competing under her maiden name of Angela Dolby, is a two-time ACC champion in the shot put, winning the outdoor conference title in 1990 and 1992.
Powell also earned all-American honors twice, placing fifth in the nation in 1990 and finishing eighth overall in 1992.
“It’s a great honor,” said Powell. “It’s a very nice to be recognized for something I did. You don’t really think about something like this happening 10 years after you compete.”
Powell still ranks third on Clemson’s all-time shot put list with a throw of 51-3.
Powell was one of two Clemson throwers and one of 12 former Lady Tigers selected for this team.
