The Dawghouse, located on the first floor of the Colvard Student Union, will be a collection point for toiletries for residents of Tuscaloosa and volunteers throughout the weekend and early next week.
Rhett Hobart, Student Association president, said he has been in contact with Grant Cochran, president of the University of Alabama’s Student Government Association, and said Cochran said the primary need right now is supplies.
The main items needed right now are toilet paper, toothpaste and deodorant, but all toiletries are welcome, Hobart said.
The supplies will be delivered early next week, and a volunteer group will be formed as soon as Cochran informs Hobart of a specific area in need of help.
Hobart said he has also been in contact with Ole Miss’s student president.
“We going to partner with Ole Miss to volunteer over there,” he said. “Our two SEC schools are coming together to help another.”
