A Mississippi State University student has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with hitting a fellow student with a cowbell immediately following the 2009 Egg Bowl.
MSU police detective Brad Massey said 23-year-old, junior pre-business major Brent Morgan Vowell turned himself in at the MSU Police Department Wednesday around 4 p.m.
Vowell has been released on $5,000 bond, which Massey said was standard for most felonies.
Massey said a court date has not been set.
The incident, which occurred in Davis Wade Stadium’s north end zone stands, reportedly stemmed from a verbal altercation which turned violent and left the victim with a concussion and head lacerations after being struck with a cowbell.
