A fire ignited at approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday on the roof of the agricultural and biological engineering building on the Mississippi State campus due to a currently unknown cause.
The building has been under construction during the past year, and is slated for completion by August 1.
No one was reportedly harmed by the blaze, which was extinguished quickly and stayed confined to the roof, Starkville Fire Department officials said.
The SFD was on the scene with multiple trucks minutes after the fire started.
Bill Batchelor, head of agricultural and biological engineering, said he is currently unsure if the fire will be a setback for the August 1 opening.
Check back for updates as information becomes available.
