Who’s got the best prices on textbooks and officially licensed Mississippi State University apparel? To find out, The Reflector went to The Lodge, Campus Book Mart, the MSU Bookstore and Wal-Mart to compare prices and selection.Five textbooks, pertinent to various majors, were selected and compared. In general, the Campus Book Mart had the lowest prices on both used and new textbooks, and the Union Bookstore had the highest.
All stores priced new textbooks about 25 percent higher than used, however, associates from these stores said that the prices are not yet final and could go up if wholesale prices increase.
Looking for a new T-shirt to show your school spirit at the BYU game? Wal-Mart offers the lowest rates, with many T-shirts under $10. The MSU Bookstore also offers game-day T-shirts from past football games for $10, and it doesn’t even matter if the Bulldogs win or not!
For a more authentic form of gusto, the Campus Book Mart sells Wayne Madkin and Dontae Walker jerseys for $45. At the MSU bookstore, MadkinOs No. 9 can be yours for $35.
The MSU bookstore and Campus Book Mart seem to offer the widest selection of Bulldog paraphernalia, but for school spirit on a modest budget, Wal-Mart reigns supreme.
*Editors note: Prices of clothing items may vary depending upon brand name. These prices were recorded on Nov. 28.
