I feel bad. I made an egregious error last week. Like all of the comments on The Reflector Web site pointed out, I shouldn’t have said that cross country isn’t a sport before actually trying it myself.
Believe it or not, I agree wholeheartedly. I guess that I inadvertently neglected to mention that I am actually a member of the cross country team. It won’t happen again, guys. You can bet your bottom dollar on that.
Anyway, I don’t want to keep beating a boring, dead horse. I want to beat a living horse for once.
At first, I thought this horse would be regarding something that happened in Rome last Tuesday. Apparently, an Italian priest was nearly stabbed to death by a 25-year-old man in a Catholic church. Here’s the kicker, though. The stabber admitted later to the police that he had decided to kill the priest after having watched The Da Vinci Code on television the night before.
Horrible, right? Yes, so that’s what I was going to write about. But then I noticed that the article mentioned a note the police had found in the perpetrator’s pocket. The note, which was my inspiration for the remainder of this article, read like this: “this is just the beginning, 666.”
666. What is it about that number? Hmm . three sixes . the devil . devil music . Three 6 Mafia is doing a concert in Starkville on Oct. 10! This is much more important than anything that’s ever happened in Italy. A much better topic, for sure.
I absolutely cannot wait for this concert. My favorite gangster rap outfit is finally coming to Starkville, and it seems like no one is even talking about it. Let’s get excited, people. This isn’t Gavin DeGraw we’re talking about here.
I love Three 6. If it weren’t for DJ Paul and Juicy J, I would have never found the courage to stay fly for all these years, even during the roughest times. I would have never even considered poppin’ my collar, much less ridin’ spinners. And even though I’ve developed a serious problem with sizzurp over the last few years, I still feel like I have so much to thank them for.
Three 6 Mafia is an anomaly to me. Despite their name generally being perceived as a Biblical reference to Satan (The Number of the Beast), Three 6 Mafia has for years been one of the most popular rap groups in our highly Christian nation. I suppose this is merely a testament to how hot their tracks are.
Still, I find it to be a very interesting contradiction. I wonder, how does one reconcile his beliefs with this very awesome, albeit very secular music? Should you not practice what you literally preach?
I’m not really sure if you should or not. Luckily, I don’t have any morals at all, so I don’t have to worry about such frivolities.
Hopefully this concert will be as entertaining as when Snoop Dogg came to Rick’s last year. The only thing Three 6 could do to top his performance is not be two hours late. Then again, they might as well take their time. It’s not like I’m about to leave this show early. See you there, friends.
