Mississippi State baseball coach Ron Polk will resign at the end of the 2008 baseball season, the university indicated today in a news release.”It goes without saying that we are most appreciative of the outstanding job Ron Polk has done for Mississippi State baseball,” MSU athletic director Larry Templeton said in the release. “His decision does not come as a surprise because we had a conversation about this timeline even before this season started.”
In 1997, Polk became the winningest baseball coach in SEC history. He led MSU to the College World Series six times, including last year.
Polk was not available for comment.
Complete coverage of the Polk announcement will be in Friday’s edition of The Reflector.
