This year has certainly been a whirlwind of unexpected happenings, a mix of the ups and downs that come with student life and a struggle to paint my right hand with my favorite pink nail polish.
The peak of my year is definitely for certain– I witnessed history in the fall semester by following our Bulldogs, as they became No. 1 in the country. Go Bulldogs!
Working for The Reflector in the fall semester during this time is definitely the peak of my year. We were able to create poster front pages, maintain a sports blog to keep up with the team through their journey and capture the moments we were all so excited to experience.
I’m sure The Reflector staff at the time (Emma Crawford, Emma Katherine Hutto, John Galatis, Noor Mujahid, Blake Morgan, Austin Grove and Kelsee McKim) will agree with me when I say it was absolutely awesome.
Aside from witnessing our Bulldogs make history; my year had its pit not long after.
It started going down as the Bulldogs were defeating the Auburn Tigers.
My car was towed from the Chick-fil-A located off campus while my co-worker Noor and I were enjoying ourselves at the M-Club’s skybox (this was a first for us so we were pumped).
Go figure. I’m sure you could imagine my horror after experiencing such a great game and reveling in the victorious shouts of the MSU/Starkville community after our win against Auburn, to find my blue PT Cruiser had disappeared.
I experienced an internal struggle as I tried to hold in my anger and frustration. For about 15 minutes, I sat outside Chick-fil-A and waited to wake up from the nightmare. Eventually, I went inside to speak with the manager as well as use the restaraunt phone (my cellphone was dead too).
So yes, as quickly as my year reached its peak, it was soon falling into its pit. I must say I did learn a valuable lesson from this year: As the Bulldogs rise, soon into a pit will you fall.
Have a great summer, and look out for upcoming issues in the fall!
