Resources are here; use them wisely
Everyone in America knows that being healthy and in shape improves your chances of having a longer and more productive life. But it seems as if Mississippi has neglected these findings. Currently, we are the fattest state, and on top of that, MSU was named the third fattest campus in the United States by Men’s Fitness.
It’s a fact that habits form easier when developed at younger ages. Most of us are young adults, so it is important to start exercising and eating now if we want to see results. Otherwise, the likelihood of change will steadily decrease as we grow older.
If you’re a student, bundles of health resources are waiting for you. And they’re free. The health center is willing to help anyone without charging a penny, yet many do not take advantage of this.
Of course, you can take anything to the extreme. But doing a workout program or simply talking to a nutrionist, who will steer you away from the fad diets that saturate our culture, will improve your body and your knowledge about your body, respectively.
Being healthy is like having insurance for a car. Just in case something happens, your body will be ready to take on anything. Forming these healthful routines would also combat all the stress that work and school often provide.
Time is one factor that may discourage you from keeping fit. On the other hand, there’s no reason you can’t take 20 or 30 minutes each day to stay healthy.
In the end, it’s all up to you. Working out and applying diets require a strong will more than anything else. Typical greasy Southern food and popular, fast restaurants don’t lend you a hand, either.
Just place aside the urge to gorge on all the food you can find. And doing these things with friends will make things easier, too.
