In response to the letter written by Bill Atkinson titled “MSU football a waste of time, money”.
Mr. Atkinson, while I do understand your frustration at our lack of winning ways on the gridiron MSU football is most certainly not a waste of time and money. This is a rebuilding year for our team and we need to stand behind them and support them. The players have to be as frustrated if not more than we the fans are. I take pleasure in watching the Bulldogs play on Saturday win or lose. That is what we as fans are there for. As to your comment about being embarrassed about being a State alum, that is ludicrous. I will bleed Maroon and White until the day I die even if State never has another winning season ever in football. No we should not abandon the football program. Not only is it the biggest revenue maker for the Athletic department, it is also a team that is much loved by fans all over the country and globe. We will return to our winning ways, it will just take time and patience from us fans. Remember Rome was not built in a day.
For those of you fans would like to join me in cheering the team on to victory at Vandy, they will be departing the Shira Field House at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Last Friday’s sendoff was not organized due to the not thinking about lack of parking at the Shira. Bring your cowbell and wear your maroon! Go State! Beat the Commodores!!
