An argument between two Mississippi State University freshmen over a computer game resulted in one being charged with aggravated assault.
University Police said the two were playing an Internet computer game around 4:45 a.m. March 25 in one of the student’s Cresswell Residence Hall rooms. The two were residence-hall neighbors.
Police said the argument then moved to the hallway and escalated to an altercation, during which one man stabbed the other with a small paring knife.
The victim sustained four wounds, two each to the abdomen and an arm. Police said he was transported to the Oktibbeha County Hospital where his condition was listed as stable.
The suspect is currently being held on the felony charge in the Oktibbeha County Jail. No bond has been set. Pending a hearing, he has been suspended from the University.
In keeping with University policy involving the privacy of judicial proceedings, the students’ names were not released.
The incident remains under investigation.
