Pie Squared Take and Bake Pizza is a new addition to the Starkville community that provides delivery as well as dine-in services and offers made-to-order pizzas that are able to be cooked later.
John Dowdy, originally from Los Angeles, Calif. and owner of Pie Squared Take and Bake Pizza, said he took a job in Starkville and decided to open his own restaurant that would cater specifically to college students and their needs.
“I thought pizza would be a good thing, it’s always nice for a college town – especially since we’re open late.”
Dowdy also said the purpose of Pie Squared Take and Bake Pizza is to provide quality pizza for an affordable price for college students.
“Everything at Pie Squared Take and Bake Pizza is made to order. All the pizzas are made fresh with fresh ingredients.
“We hand-cut the vegetables, which are locally grown, we hand-grate the cheese, we make our own dough from scratch, and all our meat comes fresh from Brian Michael’s meat market.”
The price and availability of Take and Bake Pizza is geared toward all college students.
Lorin Chancellor, a student working on her second bachelor’s degree, said Take and Bake Pizza would be perfect for her lifestyle.
“I live too far out of town to get pizza delivered, and it always gets cold by the time I pick it up in town.”
Haiden Rogers, sophomore animal and dairy sciences major, said she is very excited Pie Squared Take and Bake Pizza has opened.
“After all those late night pizza orders I made during my freshmen year, I want to know where this place has been all my life,” he said.
Pie Squared Take and Bake Pizza is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 3 a.m.
It is located off Highway 12, right next to Christy’s Hamburgers.
