The Career Center will be hold Education Interview Day at Humphrey Coliseum from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Luther Epting, director of the Career Center, estimated that 38 school districts will participate in the interview day, including schools from Florida, Kansas, Georgia and Mississippi.
“The day is geared toward student-teachers looking for a permanent job,” Epting said. “Most interviews have already been set up with the school districts.”
Students who have not signed up can schedule interviews Tuesday and should bring a rsum, Epting added.
Each interview will last 30 minutes, Epting said.
“After the initial first interview, students may be invited to the school district that may be interested in employing them,” Epting said. “The schools are looking for three specific things in potential employees: graduation date, grade point average and major.”
The Mississippi Department of Education will also attend. They will be there with the Mississippi Teacher Center, which helps teachers find employment.
“It gives us a chance to gain experience of how an actual interview is conducted. It also shows us what to look for in future job opportunities,” said student-teacher Monica Lucas said.
