Concert Set For May 6
Johnny Cash — who has lived up to his last name with a highly successful nine-year singing career — will appear in Mississippi State University’s Lee Hall auditorium Wednesday evening, May 6.
General admission tickets will sell for $3 each by the Student Association sponsors of the program, according to John Arledge of Laurel, SA social chairman.
The popular Cash blends country and folk music with the blues while playing the guitar. He will be accompanied by The Tennessee Three (until recently, the Tennessee Two). Comic songstress June Carter and the singing Statler Brothers will also be in the show.
Cash has been featured on 38 single records — all of them among the nation’s best sellers. He has appeared on 27 different television shows, starred in a movie and a featurette, and has made personal appearances throughout the United States and in Europe, Asia and Australia. He is also a top seller in recorded albums.
